Atractia Reginei Elisabeta a II-a pentru perle provine dintr-o traditie de sute de ani a monarhiei britanice.

Indiferent de ocazie, Regina Elisabeta este vazuta rareori fara bijuteriile ei preferate – colierul din perle. „Perlele purtate de regine au o traditie de o mie de ani”, a declarat pentru People Leslie Field, autoarea cartii „The Queen’s Jewels”, „Erau foarte rare, frumoase si stralucitoare, iar cu cat le porti mai mult, cu atat stralucesc mai bine”, a explicat ea.

De la bijuterii cu o singura piesa pana la colierul cu sase perle pe care l-a primit cadou in timpul unei vizite in Qatar, suverana britanica detine o colectie ampla, dar cel mai mult ii place sa poarte o bijuterie de familie – un colier cu trei randuri de perle.

„Este colierul de care se simte cel mai apropiata, vrea sa poarte perle in fiecare zi, cum faceau si mama si bunica ei. N-ar purta un colier din diamante daca ar merge la un dineu caritabil – este o traditie simpla ca o femeie sa poarte perle in timpul zilei”, a explicat Field.

O pasiune din tinerete

Regina a inceput sa poarte colierul realizat din perle si cu o incuietoare din diamant la scurt timp dupa ce a urcat pe tron. Il poarta in rarele aparitii la televiziune cand se adreseaza natiunii, asa cum a facut-o in aprilie, cand a vorbit despre criza provocata de coronavirus. L-a purtat si la inceputul lunii august, in timpul unei intalniri virtuale cu membrii Fortelor Armate si, mai recent, la ceremonia de casatorie a Printesei Beatrice.

Fost editor al publicatiei Tatler care detine cea mai mare arhiva din lume de fotografii cu bijuteriile regale, continand peste 150.000 de imagini, Field spune pasiunea reginei pentru perle s-a aprins in tinerete, gratie unei traditii de familie inceputa de stra-strabunica sa, Regina Victoria.

„Ea le-a daruit fiecarei fiice si nepoate o perla in fiecare an, de ziua lor, astfel incat cand ajungeau la 18 ani sa aiba suficiente pentru un colier”, a spus Field. Ea a adaugat ca traditia a fost continuata de tatal Elisabetei, Regele George al VI-lea, care i-a daruit un lantisor din platina, la care a adaugat cate doua perle la fiecare aniversare.

Povestea primului colier de perle

In 1935, cu ocazia nuntii sale de argint, bunicul reginei, Regele George al V-lea, i-a daruit si el perle, de data aceasta sub forma unui colier de trei randuri. Surorii ei, Printesa Margaret, i-a oferit un colier cu doua randuri. Amandoua au purtat bijuteriile in ziua incoronarii Elisabetei, cand au pasit in balconul Palatului Buckingham, pentru a saluta multimea. „Inca era o fetita, dar el a dorit ca fetele lui sa aiba primul lor colier de la bunicul lor”, a povestit experta.

Cu ce isi curata regina bijuteriile pentru a le da un plus de stralucire

Si astazi, perlele sunt nelipsite de la aniversari si uneori sunt oferite in dar. „Perlele sunt asociate cu evenimentele speciale. Vindem multe mireselor, mamelor mireselor, pentru zile de nastere si aniversarea casatoriilor – daca vrei sa arati elegant, perlele sunt perfecte”, explica bijutiera americana Claudia Bradby.

Kate Middleton adauga farmec perlelelor

Regina Elisabeta a II-a a purtat perle la aniversarea zilei sale de nastere din 1974, optand pentru un colier cu doua randuri. Se crede ca erau, de fapt, doua coliere de cate un rand, realizate din unele dintre cele mai vechi perle din colectia reginei. Anterior, in acelasi an, ea a purtat un colier similar cand a anuntat logodna cu Printul Philip.

Bradby, care foloseste perle de apa dulce in lucrarile sale cu design contemporan, spune ca influenta tinerei generatii din familia regala, precum Kate Middleton (pentru care ea a lucrat cand a participat la nunta acesteia cu Printul William), a dat si mai multa stralucire acestei traditii. „Kate a adaugat mai mult stil perlelor – nu ar trebui sa subestimezi niciodata farmecul clasicului modern”, considera ea.
